Facilitating the comprehension of science for young learners can be challenging when relying solely on theoretical instruction. The absence of hands-on experiences may hinder understanding, particularly in complex topics like planetary motion. Introducing "Slingshot," a top-down 2D game designed to augment visual learning with haptic feedback. This educational tool enhances the launch and navigation of a spaceship within a solar system, considering gravitational forces. Through this innovative approach, we propose that incorporating haptic experiences can enhance engagement and foster a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.

  • I played a role in implementing specific aspects of the gameplay mechanics related to the core functionality of the spaceship.
  • I was responsible for implementing the UI elements and their corresponding functionalities in the game. This included creating UI panels to display information such as thruster status, target indicators, timer countdown, and more.
  • I actively participated in identifying and resolving bugs or glitches in the game to ensure a smooth and error-free experience for users.
  • I contributed in the documentation for various aspects of the project, including code comments, user guides, and design documentation to facilitate future development and understanding.
We presented the demo of our project at the IEEE World Haptics 2023 conference.
